7 Mistakes You’re Making as an Aspiring Entrepreneur

But along the way, I’ve seen so many talented people trip up on the same few hurdles.

1. Falling Too Deeply in Love with Your "Idea"

We all have that one "BIG" idea that keeps us up at night. You think it’s the best thing since sliced bread! But one of the biggest mistakes I see is when an entrepreneur becomes so "married" to their initial idea that they refuse to listen to what the market actually wants.

If you aren't solving a problem that people are willing to pay for, you have a hobby, not a business! In my business consulting sessions, I always tell my clients: "Be stubborn about your goals, but flexible about your methods!" You have to be willing to pivot. 2. Trying to Be a "One-Woman Show" Forever

Listen, I get it. I call myself a "Jill of all trades" because I love doing it all: from "Tamika Shanea' Realty" to planning stunning events with De-Sav-k-ari Events. But there is a MASSIVE difference between being capable and being sustainable!

Trying to handle your marketing, your accounting, your social media, and your product development all by yourself is a fast track to "BURNOUT." You cannot pour from an empty cup, especially if you’re a mompreneur balancing family life too!

Scaling requires a team or, at the very least, a solid support system. Whether it’s hiring a virtual assistant or working with a consultant to streamline your processes, you need to learn to delegate so you can focus on your "ZONE OF GENIUS!"

3. Mixing Business and Personal "Coins"

This is a "BIG" one! When you’re just starting out, it’s so tempting to just use your personal bank account for everything. But trust me, "Tamika Shanea’, LLC" wouldn't be where it is today if I didn't get serious about my financial structure.

If you aren't tracking your business expenses separately, you’re making it impossible to see if you’re actually making a profit. Plus, come tax season, you’ll be stressed out! Get a separate account, track every penny, and treat your business like the professional entity it is: even if you’re currently working from your kitchen table!

4. Lacking a "CERTIFIED" Support System

Every athlete has a coach. Every great CEO has a mentor. So why do so many aspiring entrepreneurs try to wing it alone?
